Mark Millar Talks Upcoming "First Class" Sequel!

While chatting with SFX Magazine about his new role over at Fox, Mark Millar commented on what the plan is for Matthew Vaughn's upcoming 2014 "First Class" sequel, "Days Of Future Past".
Here's what Millar said about what to expect from the new "X-Men" film,

"[Matthew] Vaughn is going for a big sci-fi style thing with X-Men: Days of Future Past....(it's) X-Men meets The Terminator. You've got robots, you've got time travel, you've got superheroes - it's got everything in one film. He also said that it is "no spoiler on [his] part" to say that the film goes into an apocalyptic future. Cost-wise it's going to go up, and ambitious-wise it's gone up. But Vaughn can handle it. Vaughn made Kick-Ass for $28 million." 

So it all sounds good for fans of the franchise. I think that it will work and there are rumours that the Sentinels could finally be making an appearance in full form like originally planned before in the first "X-Men" film. 
Also, amazing news that I never got to blog about because I've been busy is that Patrick Stewart has signed onto future instalments in the "X-Men" franchise. It's rumoured that he's coming back for a possible "X-Men 4", appearing in the upcoming "Wolverine" reboot or the "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" adaption. Famke Jansen, who played Jean Grey in the first three films has also said that she is opened to return to the "X-Men" universe. She's rumoured to be popping up in "The Wolverine" reboot, which could possibly lead into crossing over to the "Days Of Future Past" film.

It's been over a week, well actually nearly two weeks since I last posted. Been really busy with work and college and I've missed a lot of TV and film news and would love to post about it, but it's pointless now so let's just start from the past few days rather than do a whole weeks worth because you all probably know about it already.
Here we go then, so seeing as the marketing for "Iron Man 3" has now began, Marvel have officially released the synopsis for the second sequel in the "Iron Man" franchise and "Phase 2" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Here is the official synopsis,

I could go on again about the fun that was hearing grown men scream at ParanormalActivity 3, but seen as I already gushed about that, I’ll go a different direction and choose the first horror film I saw in the cinema that delivered a fantastically hair-raising experience; The Grudge. Yup, The Grudge. And not the brilliant Japanese Ju-On, but the Sarah Michelle Gellar, dumbed-down US version. People slate it all the time, but The Grudge was the first time I ever experienced an entire cinema audience scream, jump and laugh in relief in unison. I’ll stand by the film (though not its lesser sequels), probably because never before had I seen the profound effect horror could have on a crowd. There were dozens of very different people in that theatre, but when the strep-throated ghoul girl attacked, everyone was completely on the same page. Ridiculously terrifying. Ridiculously fun.

How you make a TROMA

So, the oldest independent film studio in the world, shlockmeisters Troma, have been putting their back catalogue up on YouTube in celebration of their upcoming 40th anniversary. Knowing that they embrace advances in technology, there might be some alternate reasons for this outpouring of fantastically horrid cinema, but hey, I love Troma and having just finished founder Lloyd Kaufman's semi-autobiographical book Everything I Learned About Filmmaking I Learned From The Toxic Avenger (which is a hilarious read and you'd be foolish to do without), I am happy to immerse myself in Tromaville.

For me though, more interesting than the films themselves is the story behind the blood and rubber. And Troma, being as honest as they are, have made some extremely interesting warts-and-all making of documentaries. And being as fan friendly as they are, have posted them on to YouTube for the masses to see.

Yelling, anger, bad days, explosions, bad stunts, grumpy actors; these documentaries follow the productions of their respective films as they unfold, and are compulsive viewing. Most making of docs are so middle of the road and paint everyone in a nice light, but Troma gives that fluffy shite the finger and has its icons as the assholes they are, the shoots as chaotic as they happened, and the passion as real as it was.

Below are, in order of production and release, the ins and outs of a real guerilla film shoot, showing the unseen grulling side of production in the most hilarious and captivating way.

So, do what I did and sit back for 5 or so incredible hours of how to make a film, Troma style, better than any films school could ever teach.

"Iron Man: Rise Of Technovore" is set for a Spring 2013 release date and comes from Japanese director, Hiroshi Hamasaki. The film explores a confrontation between Iron Man and the villainous Ezekiel Stane, who develops new bio-technology that seemingly outclasses the Iron Man armor.
