30 Day Horror Challenge-Day 20: A great remake

For the next 30 days (or whenever I stop being lazy and finish it), I will be giving my fingers short bursts of exercise by completing the 30 Day Horror Challenge, found here. Day 20: A great remake

The Amityville Horror. No doubt. There have been some remakes I have really enjoyed, but most have been so different from the original that they avoid comparison (the Dawn of the Dead remake being the prime example), whereas Amityville is very similar to it's 1979 counterpart in terms of general story and plot points, except it improves and adds to every single aspect. There is nothing about the remake that isn't superior to the original. It was just the other day when I was explaining a problem I had with the original Amityville Horror, which I feel exploits a real life tragedy, so feel I am in a bit of a moral dilemma with the remake, as it treads the same ground. The way I feel a bit more ok with it? The film is cinematic, definitely a film. There is no doubt this thing is a Hollywood product. There is a star in it (in Ryan Reynolds, who is awkward in the father role, but to the characters benefit). Michael Bay produced. The Indian burial ground subplot is brought to the forefront. In essence, this film is more inspired by what are said to be true events, as opposed to based on, which is quite a difference. Plus the Hollywood shine puts a major distance between the viewer, the screen, and reality. 

So, moral quandaries aside, this is a remake that surpasses the original in every respect, taking what I consider a piss poor, lagging and cheap haunted house film and injects it with the Michael Bay steroids it needed to be engaging, scary, and a decent flick. 

New Official Logo & Casting For "Transformers 4"

After internet rumors and fan suggestions................fucking Marky Mark Wahlberg has been officially cast in Michael "Big Explosions, No Story" Bay's upcoming "Transformers" sequel.
Now, I'm kind of all for another film, even though I know there will be no story to it. It's got to the point where I just watch these films for the action sequences and that's all. I like Marky Mark, but casting him in a "Transformers" film isn't the best ideal casting ever!!! I just hope that he isn't the lead character. Also, I like the films official logo...........quite smart looking.

Fourth "Transformers" Film Isn't A Reboot!

While talking to Movieweb.com about his new crime-thriller, Michael "BIG explosions, no story" Bay spoke briefly about the upcoming 2014 "Transformers" sequel. He confirms that it's not a reboot even though it will feature a whole new story and a whole new cast too. This is what he said in his own words, "It's not a reboot, that's maybe the wrong word. I don't want to say reboot because then people will think we're doing a Spider-Man and starting from the beginning. We're not. We're taking the story that you've seen - the story we've told in three movies already - and we're taking it in a new direction. But we're leaving those three as the history. It all still counts. I met with the writer before I went off to do Pain and Gain and we talked about a bunch of ideas. We let that simmer for a bit. He's been thinking about stuff and now we're getting back together next week to see what we've got and to see if it gels."
He also said that the new film could be set in space and possibly on Cybertron, the Transformers home planet. He also said that the budget for this one is lower than the last 3 films, "It's going to be less, actually. Our mandate is to cut about $30 million."

"Ninja Turtles" Reboot Filming Later This Summer?

There's rumors going around saying that Michael Bay produced "Ninja Turtles" live-action reboot is set to begin filming later this Summer. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it seems that the production is heading to Vancouver.
The only thing that's been confirmed, is if these new turtles will be real suits and make-up effects or if they'll be all CGI. The answer..................MOTION CAPTURE, just like the apes in last years "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes". Now that's an awesome way to create the turtles now. It was bound to go this way after the apes reboot film.

There's No More "Transformers" For Bay After 4th!

Before the fourth film has even began production, director Michael Bay has confirmed via Hero Complex that this will deffo be the last "Transformers" for him. This is what Hero Complex said, (The director, by the way, says that the fourth film will include some redesign of the robots and an entirely new cast. He also said it will be his last and set the franchise up "for the next guy.")
