It's been widely confirmed that "House" star Hugh Laurie will not be playing the OCP villain in the new 2013 reboot of "RoboCop". It was said that he was set to play the Dick Jones type character in the Jose Padihla directed film, but it now turns out he was no where near signing for the role. It was just a rumor, but was set up to look real a few months back.
Now it's been reported that Clive Owen is on the top of MGM's list to take over the role. There's been no confirmation, but if this is real, then confirmation will happen soon seeing as the fillm is set to begin filming next month.

RoboCop To Go Through Four Different Armors In 2013 Reboot?
Drew McWeeny over Hitfix.com is reporting that the new RoboCop will go through 3 armors before getting to the right one, the 4th. The armors will consist of an updated version of the classic 80's armor to highly technical futuristic version, which is where the film is set.
Basically the new Robo has been tagged as a "Transformer" on quite a few movie rant sites. Below also tells us that there's definitely going to be a few more changes to the characters, like Lewis now being a male character, but still Murphy's partner though.
Here's McWeeny's quotes on the new armors and the parts of the script,

Here's McWeeny's quotes on the new armors and the parts of the script,
In the film, when Murphy is turned into Robocop 1.0, it’s described “a high-tech version of the ’80s suit.” Then they show a focus group scene where criminals laugh at the design. “He looks like a toy from the ’80s!” So they redesign him to look “meaner” as Robocop 2.0, who passes focus group approval. So they not only make sure to include the original design, they also point out it’s dated and stupid. In a way, I like the change up. This means that no one can really compare it to the 80's original, because this is totally a different film in every way, shape and form. The setting is in the 2020 something, Lewis is a guy, every other characters names are different, the look and feel will be different, RoboCop himself is going to look dfferent.......I like it!!!
Hold onto your sides for more hilarious “Robocop” details. They outsource his construction to China.
And we meet the ED-209s in the field in Iran, where they’re used to subdue suicide bombers.
Ahhh… now they just dropped Robocop 3.0 onto an Al Queda training camp to see what he does. “He should be programmed to incapacitate in all scenarios.” “Agreed. Let’s keep him PG-13, Dr. Norton.” No. No. No. No.
By page 54, they are already onto Robocop 4.0, who looks like a “cop on steroids painted metallic blue.” Oh, god… oh dear god… Robocop is a Transformer. He goes from “social mode” to “combat mode” and back. Full transformation.
It’s tough to determine tone on the page, but “satire” seems low on their list of priorities.
Okay… the two “best” lines in the script. First up is at the unveiling ceremony for Robocop in Detroit, from a TV reporter covering it. “I think it’s safe to say that Alex Murphy is now part man, part machine, ALL COP!” Yes, I too remember the original poster, asshat.
Second, after the traumatic first meeting with his father, Alex’s son retreats to the apartment of Lewis, Murphy’s male partner. The scene ends with the action line “David sits, catatonic, looks at the TV — MGM REMAKE TBD.” It means “to be determined.” They haven’t decided which of their other movies to plug with that clip.
Someone shows Pope, head of the OCP project, some mock-ups for Robocop action figures. “Are you kidding? I wouldn’t buy that for a dollar!”
I’ll say this: once the script stops all the winky-winky crap and just starts telling a story, it’s not terrible. But it’s way too late.If you can get past Robocop The Transformer, there are some interesting action beats. And I’m sure Padilha will direct the hell out of it.

Freddy Krueger Joins "ROBOCOP" 2013 Reboot!
Strange looking actor, Jackie Earl Haley, who played Freddy Krueger in the 2010 "Elm Street" reboot and Rorschach in Zach Snyder's "Watchmen" is the latest actor to be cast in the 2013 reboot of "ROBOCOP". He will be playing the character of Maddox, who will be in charge of equipting Robo with all of his weaponry and military training.
What's funny is that I cast him in my reboot cast a few months back and I cast him as the lead villains hence-man, a kind of Emile type character: http://whatsoninthemedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/my-robocop-fan-casting.html

The Net Marketing For "ROBOCOP" Begins!
The studio behind the latest Hollywood reboot, "ROBOCOP" have set up a very realistic website for Omni Consumer Products (OCP), which now is under a new title in this new film. OCP is now being called Omni-Corp in the new "ROBOCOP" rebooted universe. It's a slicker, smarter title than just plain old OCP.
www.omnicorp.com gives fans a first look at the new ED-209 and this flying jet like ship pictured above. We also get a teaser look at the new RoboCop, but it's not great, it's just quick glimpses at the armor.
In a short video about Omni-Corps robotic technology, they refer to RoboCop as simply the RC-200......love the whole new hi-tech name for him. We're obviously not seeing him till later on in the marketing. The site is very well put together. It really looks like Omni-Corp is a real company.

British actor Hugh Laurie, who is famous in America for playing TV favorite Dr Gregory House in hit show "House" is in negotiations with MGM to play one of the villains in their 2013 reboot of "RoboCop". He will be playing the CEO of OCP, which in the original film was Dick Jones.
It's yet unknown if Laurie has officially signed on the doted line or if the role is still Dick Jones or the same character with a new name. There's also news that the studio hope to still bring in an actor to play a newer version of Clarence Bodicker in the upcoming reboot.
